Admission
Status
Following evaluation of the
applicant’s credentials, the applicant may be admitted in
one of the following
categories:
1.
FULL ACCEPTANCE
The applicant is accepted to the College
2. PROVISIONAL ACCEPTANCE FOR FAILURE TO MEET ADMISSION
REQUIREMENTS (for freshmen and
transfer applicants only)
An applicant who otherwise
qualifies for admission except for the ACT score may be
provisionally admitted if the
student has achieved an ACT score of 17. For the first
semester of enrollment, the
applicant may register for no more than nine Credit
Hours in the regular semester
or four Credit Hours in the summer semester.
Academic Seminar and
developmental courses must be taken prior to enrollment in
college level courses. If the
student needs only one developmental course, he/she
can enroll in a College level
course and the developmental course in the same
semester.
An applicant who otherwise qualifies for
admission but has an ACT score below 17
will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the
College Admissions Committee.
3. PROVISIONAL ACCEPTANCE FOR UNOFFICIAL
DOCUMENTS
Provisional admission for
unofficial documents is approved only under special
circumstances by the
Director of Admissions. The applicant who meets the criteria
for admission based on
unofficial transcripts or who is currently enrolled at another
institution at the time
that admission is determined may be admitted provisionally on
51 the basis of
unofficial or incomplete transcripts. Official and complete transcripts
must be received within
thirty days of the first day of class of the semester in which
the applicant enrolls in
order to continue enrollment and to be removed from
provisional acceptance.
The applicant who does not submit complete official college
transcripts will not be
allowed to re-enroll until these transcripts have been received.
Academic records for applicants
accepted on this basis will be reviewed within sixty
days after the first day of
class of the semester in which the student enrolls.
Students will be notified in
writing when official transcripts have been received.

Academic
Renewal
In
the spirit of Mission of the College to meet the health and educational
needs of the
people
of God with compassion, understanding, respect and dignity, it is
recognized that
some
students because of personal situations, immaturity or other reasons
establish an
academic
record which results in their dismissal. Furthermore, their academic
record
would
present an obstacle to ever achieving a degree.
An
opportunity for fresh start at Our Lady of the Lake College for select
students is
available
through Academic Renewal. The basis of this renewal is that their prior
academic
record in its entirety is disregarded and they begin their college work
with no
semester
hours attempted, no hours passed, and no quality points. No courses
passed
prior
to Academic Renewal may be used for degree completion at OLOL College.
Students
may only seek academic renewal once at OLOL College. All work taken will
remain
on the student’s transcript. Academic Renewal applies only to OLOL
College
and
may not be recognized at other colleges or universities.
Requirements:
1. Before applying an applicant (transfer or re-entry) must have
been out of school
for five calendar years, i.e., five years must have passed since
the last semester that
the student was last in attendance.
2. In a petition (a letter) to the Vice-President of Academic
Affairs the applicant must
present evidence that the situations or conditions that caused
the poor academic.33
record no longer exist and that there is now a reasonable
expectation that if admitted
there is a likelihood that the applicant will be successful.
3. The Vice President of Academic Affairs will consider the
petition and that decision
will be final.
4. If admitted, the student will be classified as a beginning
freshman and will be
required to meet all of the requirements of that entry class.
5. The student will sign an agreement that he or she understands
and accepts the
conditions of the Academic Renewal policy.
6. Academic Renewal students are expected to periodically meet
with their advisor to
discuss academic progress.
