Certified
Nursing Assistant Training Program
The
need for dependable bedside nursing care is as prevalent as ever,
ranging from hospitals to home health agencies to long-term care
facilities. The Certified Nursing Assistant, or C.N.A., plays an
important role, providing basic care while ensuring the safety and
comfort of patients. Our Lady of the Lake College’s C.N.A.
Training Program, offered through the Health Career Institute, prepares
the student for immediate employment as a nursing assistant.
The
C.N.A. Training Program holds full approval from the Louisiana
Department of Health and Hospitals and the Louisiana Department of
Education.
CURRICULUM
The
C.N.A. Training Program is a 196-hour (15-week) certificate program
offered three times a year. Classroom instruction includes an
introduction to healthcare, basic nursing skills, body structure and
function, infection control, CPR, and the job-seeking process. Students
also participate in supervised clinical activities. Upon
successful completion of the program, students are certified as a
nursing assistant in the state of Louisiana.
ADMISSION
All
applicants must provide the following for admission to the C.N.A.
Training Program:

High
school transcript or GED (General Education Development) equivalent.
·
Proof
of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella, and tetanus/diphtheria, as
described in Our Lady of the Lake College’s Immunization Policy.
·
Completed
application with $35.00 application fee.
·
Completion
of all healthcare safety requirements before entering clinical
courses.
ENROLLMENT
Applications
to the C.N.A. Training Program are due on or before April 1 for the
summer class, July 1 for the fall class, and November 1 for the

Our
Lady of the Lake College welcomes applications from all qualified
individuals. All transcripts are reviewed on an individual basis,
according to College policy, in order to determine eligibility and
placement in the program. Equal educational opportunities are

FINANCIAL
ASSISTANCE
Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center also
offers generous tuition reimbursement to qualifying employees.
