Our staff
consists of a professional counselor and a part-time counselor-intern.
The College offers brief counseling free to all students. Students
requiring long-term counseling are referred to the Baton Rouge Mental
Health Agency or other community or private counseling centers.

ABOUT COMPREHENSIVE ASSISTANCE."
Our Lady of
the Lake College Counseling Services provides a wide variety of programs
and services, including:
Tutoring;
learning styles inventories with suggested study strategies;
computer-based diagnostics for study strengths and weaknesses;
workshops/practice sessions for state licensing exams; and individual
"prep sessions” for all program placement exams.
Career
inventories; resume or interviewing; internships; job placement; and
career choices.
Participants
share common interests and concerns, working toward solutions with the
help of feedback from, and discussions with others. Groups focus
on special-interest topics such as stress management, relationships
communication techniques and anxiety.
- Individual
Counseling; interpersonal relationships and communication
Depression;
stress; anxiety; grief and loss; financial issues; anger management; and
school or work problems.
Several
topics are covered each year, such as stress management, resume writing,
preparing for job fairs, interviewing skills and study skills.
- Consultation for
Faculty, Staff or Students
Workplace
violence; organizational strategies; communication with organizations;
educational concerns; and special topics.

All of our
counselors and staff members follow the ethical guidelines as set forth
by the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological
Association. Counseling records are held in strictest confidence
and are NOT a part of any other college records.
IT’S
FREE AND CONVENIENT.
All
counseling services are completely FREE to Our Lady of the Lake College
students – part-time and full-time. Appointments may be made by
calling (225) 768-1713 or toll-free, (877) 242-3509. Walk-in
appointments are also available.

CHALLENGES STUDENTS FACE MOST OFTEN
Difficulty
with friends. Panic attacks. Family problems. Test
anxiety. Learning difficulties. Relationship troubles.
Personal crises. If you or a classmate is attempting to deal with
the pressures these situations can cause, you should know that free,
professional counseling is available on campus.
Our Lady
of the Lake College’s Counseling Services office is art of the
Division of support Services and offers personal and academic
counseling, crisis intervention and short-term psychotherapy for
individuals and groups. |

Office is conveniently located in the OLOL College Administration
Building at 5414
Brittany Drive.
Hours of Operation
Office hours are Monday
through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and by appointment. Additional hours may be
added as necessary to accommodate individuals and groups.
