Surgical Technology Program

The Surgical Technologist is an integral member of any surgical team, preparing the operating room and assisting the surgeon and other team members.  Our Lady of the Lake College’s Surgical Technology Program provides students with integrated learning and experience in both the theory and clinical practice of the field, leading to the Associate of Science degree.

The Surgical Technology Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP), and yearly enrollment is limited.

CURRICULUM

The new Surgical Technology curriculum, which will be effective in the fall of 2004, offers students the opportunity to complete the 61 required credit hours in a two-year period, even those with no previous college experience. Applications will be accepted in the spring of 2005 for the class accepted in June of that year, with that class graduating in May of 2006. No applications will be accepted in the spring of 2004. For those currently, seeking enrollment in the Program, this curriculum change will not delay the graduation date. Until this revision, students graduated two years after enrollment. With the new curriculum students will graduate in a year after admission. Students will have completed 5 hours of Surgical Technology courses before applying to the Program. Students with questions or concerns may e-mail Alice Comish, Director of the Surgical Technology Program. Click here for more information.
