Simulation Facilities

SETH is a 4,000 square foot state-of-the-art simulated learning environment offering resources to advance a comprehensive interprofessional simulation healthcare education program. SETH has the capacity for improvised technology, computer-based simulation, task training simulation, virtual reality simulation and manikin-based simulation. SETH includes three debriefing rooms, seven simulation suites with attached observation control rooms, and a task training / virtual reality suite.

Debriefing Rooms

There are three debriefing rooms. St. Paul’s seating capacity is 38 students. Sim 1 seats 16 students and the Multipurpose Skills Lab can be configured to accommodate up to 16 students for debriefing purposes. Each room includes wired and wireless capabilities. Each is separately equipped with a large monitor, white board, and a projector and screen.

Simulation Suites

There are seven simulation suites that are multifunctional to allow interprofessional educational events. Each simulation suite has a control room with one-way mirrored glass.

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
The ICU is a large simulation suite designed to resemble a real ICU. It includes pan tilt zoom cameras, assessment equipment, appropriate headwalls respective to the type of care needed for the simulation including a ventilator and all other equipment specific to an ICU.  This room is equipped with high fidelity simulator, Adult Hal and the work station on wheels for computerized electronic medical record charting.
  • Medical Surgical Unit
The Medical Surgical unit is a large simulation suite designed to resemble a realistic medical surgical environment.  It includes a 360 degree camera, pan tilt zoom cameras, assessment equipment, appropriate headwalls respective to the type of care needed for the simulation.  This room is equipped with high fidelity simulator, such as 3G SimMan and  SimMan classic and the work station on wheels for computerized electronic medical record charting.
  • Birthing Simulation Suite
This suite is designed for labor and delivery encounters. The room is equipped with high fidelity simulators Victoria and Baby Hal, the appropriate headwalls respective to the type of care needed for the simulation. There is also birthing suite furnishings and pan tilt cameras and the work station on wheels for computerized electronic medical record charting.
  • Pediatric Unit
This simulation suite houses Sim Jr., pediatric high fidelity simulator. The simulation suite is equipped with pan tilt cameras and a headwall and the work station on wheels for computerized electronic medical record charting.
  • Community Health/Mental Health Unit
This simulation room is designed for multifunctional purpose.  It is utilized as a mental health suite and can be converted to a community health environment.  The simulation suite is equipped with pan tilt zoom cameras and a work station on wheels for computerized electronic medical record charting.
  • Multipurpose Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
This multipurpose simulation room has the capability to be used as an Emergency Room. It is designed with five curtained hospital cubicles, which can be reconfigured to serve a variety of purposes for skills practice and for debriefing/teaching.  Each cubicle contains a hospital bed, and headwall unit which contains suction and simulated oxygen.
  • Clinic Exam Room
The clinic is designed to mimic a provider's room.  The simulation room is equipped with an exam table and a diagnostic headwall featuring blood pressure cuffs, otoscope, ophalmoscope and thermometer.
  • Medication Room
The medication room is designed to mimic a hospital environment with equipment such as a pneumatic tube system, Pxyis medication dispensing unit, blood glucose monitoring unit, and a fully functional code cart with defibrillator.
